REIMAGINING ACCESS TO COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE
Local Satellite Health Clinics:
Access to Patient-Centred Healthcare Close to Home
OUR VISION
The demand for medical care has never been greater. More people with chronic conditions or with minor issues are being seen in Emergency Rooms, creating long waiting times regularly over 24 hrs.
However, there is an opportunity to replicate the very successful model of the CSVM clinic in Ayer’s Cliff to serve the needs of an underserved rural population and to keep Townshippers healthy.
Our vision is to fund and operate three such clinics in Lennoxville first and then in other municipalities, offering services such as nursing, medical evaluations, blood and urine testing, vaccinations, light medical emergencies and preventive care.
AN URGENT COMMUNITY NEED
An aging population requires illness prevention education that promotes physical activity, healthy lifestyles, mental wellbeing as well as chronic care management. These are services that local, close-to-home facilities can provide in a timely manner. Combined with the desire for seniors to stay in their homes will put a greater pressure on the health system.
The Eastern Townships region has the oldest population in Quebec!
- In 2021, 20.5% of the population was aged 65 and over.
- By 2030, 25% of the population is expected to be aged 65 and over.
Since the pandemic, we’ve seen also a significant migration of baby boomers to the Eastern Townships.
OUR FIRST SATELLITE CLINIC
Our plan is to open the Lennoxville clinic in June 2025 and offer our services to the community. Once this clinic is up and running, the Foundation plans to open a North Hatley clinic once a location is secured and renovated.
REQUIRED INVESTMENT
The investment required to establish and operate each satellite clinics is $750,000.
